Isolation+Magic=?
An Editorial Project

This project originates from the 2 weeks I spent in quarantine after I went back to Poland during the pandemic. I wasn’t allowed to leave my apartment at all and the only human contact I had was with the policemen that came to check up on me from time to time.
During that time, I was working on a womenswear collection entitled ‘The Spell’. The collection is about a magical person, a witch who attracts love. The garments go beyond having an aesthetic value as they also have a spiritual meaning. Through symbols, shapes and colour correspondences, an intention to bring love into the wearer’s life is made. The collection itself is a love spell. Research with modern witches was made to bring authenticity into the collection.
Because of the lockdown, I was unable to produce a full collection as planned. I had to use whatever resources and materials I had at home, so I became a one-woman-crew, designer/stylist/photographer/model.
This project became a way of escaping reality and testing my resilience in carrying out my vision.
ISOLATION+MAGIC=? is still about love, but with the forced isolation, it becomes a story about self-sufficiency. It is a love story with oneself communicated through fashion.
